First Day of School
Katie and Mary started school today. The dresses are both courtesy Mom. They were cute. Katie was afraid of her class for a few minutes, but she settled down and had a good time. Then, we went to McDonalds to celebrate.

Play Doh
Mom made Play Doh. As you can see, it turned out very well. And it's pretty easy.
1 cup flour (or pancake mix)
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar (apparently you can use 1:1 baking soda:baking powder instead)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
While bringing water to a boil, mix dry ingredients. Add liquids. Add additional flour until the right consistency. For coloring, you can use either food coloring or unsweetened Kool Aid.
Making it Up
Norm visited over Labor Day Weekend while Rhoda and Mom were at the Wiet's place. Norm, Mary Kay and Mary were sleeping and I was working on my ropes. Katie entertained herself. For hours. Attached is a sample.

Labor Day at the Wiet's
Mom and I headed west for Labor Day to Michigan's West Coast for a little R&R. We went to the Wiet's new house in Sawyer, MI.
This is the Wiet's new beach cottage. It is beautiful.
Here are Dr. and Mrs. Wiet on the back porch with Mom. We were having hors d'oeuvres.
Mom came down to the beach and everyone relaxed a bit on the nice white sand.

This is Dr. Wiet kayaking. I also kayaked. It was jolly good pfun.

These are just more pics of our spot on the beach. It really was great. The only thing missing was all of you. I thought of you all often and how great it would be to go someplace like that together. I'm thinking and we'll see if I can plan something when it is good pfor everyone.

Reading, a new tooth, drinking out of a cup, and eating!
And here is Alina on her first morning with a tooth! I couldn't get her to smile to show it off, but it's there. Just imagine.
Here I am trying to take a picture of it. Didn't really work, but it's on her lower left side.
She likes to drink out of Mommy's cup. Since I just found out I have pneumonia, and not just a cold that I got from Alina, I now have to switch cups so that she has her own. She still likes it.
Here she is eating rice cereal for the first time!

Doe, A Deer, This Time without the Child Porn Overtones
Mary finally decided to sing Do Re Me again for the camera. She got most of it.
Home Invasion
We had an enormous flying ant hatch tonight. It was pretty much only our yard, and only the front yard.

What would have been great is if you could have seen all the ants flying around in this picture. Trust me when I tell you they were there.

Here is a picture of what our lawn pretty much looked like. I was afraid.

See, I wasn't kidding. Here's another example.

Why you got to hate?
Oh, the Shame
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
At least Rhoda can hold her head high. Speaking of high, that is where Boulder still rates (only number 15 though; registration required).

It's Out

The book. Buy a copy. Buy more than one copy. It's great.
BUY MY BOOK
Two of the three authors (Chris is already gainfully employed in Groton). My hair looks real good.
We dedicated the book to our lovely wives, pictured here.
Jack is a prolific author. Pictured here with only a few of the books he's written.
