Conversation with Alina:
Alina (to Jay): Tata, you are cool. You can speak 2 languages AND you fart a lot.

Yesterday in the car we were playing a "guess what animal I am pretending to be" game. During one of Ania's turns, she was being a 'siff'. Guess how long that took us to guess?

Ania is 4!
Ania turned 4!
She wanted shoe cupcakes for her party. Her favorite was the zebra...
They were pretty tasty, too.
Her friend from preschool came, so she was pretty excited about that.
Happy birthday, Ania! :)

Life on the Pfarm
I've had quite a pfew pfield trips this semester. My camera broke and I had mailed it in to get pfixed pfor the last one, so no pfotos. :( It's back now! :)
Anyway, Upstate New York is very pretty. The leaves are all yellow, red and purple now. This was about a month ago. Isn't it nice?
I got to drive a tractor!
It was a little scarier than I was expecting. Luckily I know how to drive standard.
This is the machine they use to harvest corn. That was very interesting. I thought it was amazing how every every EVERYTHING is done by machine. In Burkina I knew in this magical place called America people did things like this with machines but couldn't imagine how.
When we saw the machine that did the planting I asked the (stupid) question, "How many seeds do you put in each hole?" In Burkina we would put 2-4 seeds per hole. She looked at me (you can probably imagine the look), "Just one." Right. Got it. Then I did some fast (because I'm a whiz at math) calculations. They spend a lot more on rotten seeds than they should.
There are of course lots more pictures of pfarm equipment. I just didn't know now many tractors would be interesting to the audience.

Labor Day in Ithaca and Cayuga Lake
Mary Kay, AJ and Joe came to visit me for Labor Day. That was super pfun. MK and I slept for 10 hours and got a late start, but we rocked it after that. Pfirst we went to Buttermilk Pfalls. It was lovely, as always. The water was really low, though, because like most of the country, Upstate New York is experiencing a drought.
Then we went to the Thirsty Owl Winery and had a much deserved pfantastic lunch overlooking Cayuga Lake.
They have red and white grapes here but mostly white. Red are of course better and prettier.
After that we went to Lucas and did a wine tasting. A whole flight. For some reason we didn't get any pfotos, but it was pfun. I tried an iced wine for the first time. Iced wine, that we had, they pick the grapes before the frost and freeze them themselves.
