This keyboard is awful. Mostly pictures.

Went to the market a few weeks ago. Here are some beans and a lady selling the bissap flowers

This funny poster is hanging in the medical office. I hope you can see all of the maladies.

We went to this tiny town and took a bush taxi. This picture I think is funny for a couple reasons. One is he is loading a sheep on to the roof of a car.

There were eventually 28 up there.

Ladies in the tiny town.

Houses in village

I would say 80% of the children in the village this age looked like this. It was very sad. But there were about 10 children behind this one that all thought it was great fun watching us. It was like free reality TV.

From Africa

I hope this works…

It has taken me awhile to finally get to a point where I can post . With the relocation from the original training site, back to the capital, to the current location, things have been tiring. Anyway, here are some pictures.

This is a tasty drink here called bissap. Use google translator. We had it at out opening dinner. I don’t remember the name of the dish, but it was good. Chicken something. Then for dessert we had dengue. I don't know how to spell it. Next time.

Here I am 'sleeping' in a bed net for the first time. We were excited.

This is my first host family.  They were nice.

Mosque.

It's the rainy season and people are busy in the fields.

On the way to school there are lots of anmals.  These were on the way to the first trainig site.

And this guy lived at the second site.

Hope to be able to be more in touch soon. I like emails and care packages. :)

Conversations with Katie

Nonna Vittoria sent Katie some clothes.
Mary Kay - We need to open this and try them on to see if they are your style.
Katie - Mom, I don't have a style. Mary has a style.

Gymnastics, hiking, trip to MI, cowgirl boots

Hokey pokey at gymnastics

Alina is a little monkey on the bars.

Thanks for the tutu, Uncle Josh!

That is not marker on her forehead... she fell and hit her forehead on a step! Ouch!!

Mommy, take a picture of my hand. Take another picture of my hand. Take another one.

We went for a hike at Lookout Mountain. It was pretty fun.

Alina picked her outfit. A yellow sundress (thanks to the Pflums) and green polka dot pants. It was quite lovely.

She wanted to go the other way!

On the way home. :)

Tire swing at Uncle Derek's house...

Alina sharing her Elmo blankie with Mary.

Hangin' out, watching a movie, sucking her thumb. Good times.

This is after the face plant (with Uncle Josh) at the airport.

Thanks for the boots, Aunt Libby!

This picture is cute. :)

Just drawing on herself, with Alina's shoes on.

Nags Head, NC

We went to Nags Head, NC, for a vacation. Here is where we stayed.

Here is the view of the beach from the place.

We spent a lot of time on the beach.

And in the hot tub.

We went to the dunes. It was a lot like the beach, but not near the water.

And here are some more cute pictures.
